📊 Key Employment Law Changes Coming in 2025 - Major reforms are reshaping UK employment law this year. Here are the critical updates for business owners and HR leaders;
🔹 Employment Rights Bill consultations begin, introducing 28 reforms including day-one rights for paternity, parental & bereavement leave. Major changes like removing the 2-year qualifying period for unfair dismissal will follow in 2026.
🔹 National Living Wage increasing to £12.21 in April (+£0.77), with significant rises for younger workers too.
🔹 New Neonatal Care Act takes effect in April, providing up to 12 weeks of paid leave for parents of babies requiring hospital care.
🔹 Statutory payments increasing: SSP rising to £118.75/week, while maternity, paternity & other family-related payments increase to £187.18/week.
🔹 Employer NIC changes from April: Main rate increasing to 15%, but employment allowance expanding to £10,500 for all employers.
🔹 Watch for: New statutory code on 'right to switch off', Race & Disability Pay Gap reporting legislation, and pensions reform.
